Myles & Myles

This morning, we ran in the Klein High School Bearkat Bash for the third year. I finished in 30:21 and Liz finished in 30:27; both of us improved quite a bit over last year’s time of 31:43. And now we have new personal records!

Also, due to the fact that my birthday is on Tuesday, I managed to “win” first place in my age group (I wouldn’t have placed if I were in the 30-34 age group, but I’m still 29 for the next three days). Technically, the overall winner (who finished in 15 minutes and change) is in my age group, too, but they don’t allow duplication of awards. And to be fair, he and I were the only male participants in the 25-29 age group. But it’s still a major award and I won, to paraphrase “The Old Man” from A Christmas Story.

Training is going well. We’re still doing the program in the The Non-Runner’s Marathon Trainer. This was week #3, so we completed 17 miles this week.

Yesterday, we bought new shoes. I got the New Balance 607 Shoes:

and Liz got the Asics Gel Kahana Trail Running Shoes:

Our new shoes are a lot more comfortable than the old ones (which were themselves very comfortable before we had run several hundred miles in them). The new ones are like running on clouds. Okay, not quite that comfortable, but they feel good.

This morning, we got up early and went to the park to do our long run for the week (7 miles this week). The run was fun and quick, and naturally, I stepped in dog poop in my brand new shoes. Why was it on the running trail? Oh well.

This site exists for Steev and Liz to talk about their running. Some other things might sneak in from time to time, but this is mostly about the running.

We ran in the 2007 Aramco Houston Half-Marathon on 1/14/2007. Liz and Steve both finished in 2:36:40.

We ran in the Klein High School Bearkat Bash 5k on 9/9/2006, Steev’s 28th birthday. The entry fee for the race goes to the senior class’s graduation party. Liz finished in 33:22 and Steev finished in 34:07.
